May 21, 2012· I had black Estes Ultra Reef also, hated it. Every time the rays moved it was thrown every where. Its so small and light that its more of a nuisance. The Ceramaquartz is heavier and larger. Ceramaquartz is rate as p-30 (finer grade) similar to ultra reef or 3M S grade and p-20 which is (larger grade) similar to the T grade 3M.

May 14, 2009· I went through the 3m website to find someone local. It came up with 2 distributors in NJ but they don't sell to the public. I would have to go through a pool place myself. It was recommended to me to use the T grade which is a little coarser the S grade is fine. I haven't gotten it yet myself.

If you are into colored sands, ask them about 3m colorquartz sand. 3m no longer makes it but they do have a replacement (estes brand iirc), either way its a great inert sand that is ceramic coated (no jagged edges) and comes in a multitude of colors.
